The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has imposed fines and suspensions totaling more than $1 million on both Senegal and Morocco in relation to the chaotic occurrences witnessed during the AFCON 2025 final match.

CAF cited fan misconduct, player misconduct, and disruptions during the match as the main reasons for the fines and suspensions. Senegal, the winner of the tournament, was fined the most with $615,000, which covered fan misconduct, team misconduct, and disciplinary offenses. The team’s head coach, Pape Thiaw, was suspended for five matches and fined $100,000. Iliman Ndiaye and Ismaila Sarr, two of the players, have also been suspended for two matches each.

Additionally, CAF fined Morocco $415,000 for misconduct in the stadium, player misconduct, and fan misconduct using lasers. Midfielder Ismail Saibari was suspended for three matches, while the captain, Achraf Hakimi, was suspended for two matches.

CAF has also rejected Morocco’s appeal to overturn the results, thus confirming Senegal as the champions of the AFCON 2025 tournament.
